Flying into Vietnam with Kids or Elderly Parents: 12 Airport Tips
Long queues, heavy bags and a busy arrivals hall are hardest on the youngest and oldest travelers. These tips make arrival in Vietnam much easier.

Arriving in a new country after a long flight is tiring for anyone. For families with small children and for older travelers, the hardest parts are usually the same: standing in queues, handling baggage and finding your way out of a busy terminal. These tips help, whichever Vietnamese airport you land at.
Before you fly
- Check entry rules for every traveler. Each person — including babies — needs their own valid passport and, if required, their own visa or e-visa. Use the official portal evisa.gov.vn and check the rules for each nationality in your group.
- Keep documents together in one easy-to-reach folder, with copies on your phone.
- Request wheelchair assistance through your airline when you book, if anyone needs it. Airline assistance covers the aircraft and terminal; tell your meet & greet provider too, so they can plan around it.
- Pre-book your transfer — and ask for child seats if you need them. Not all taxis carry them.
On the plane
- Fill in any forms and get documents out before landing, not in the immigration queue.
- Feed and change little ones before descent — the time from landing to the car can be longer than you expect.
In the terminal
- Stay together through immigration. Families normally go through together; keep children close in busy halls.
- Use a trolley early for bags and tired children’s backpacks.
- Agree a meeting point in case anyone gets separated — and make sure older children know it.
- Count bags at the belt before leaving baggage claim.
After you exit
- Know exactly who is meeting you. Arrivals halls in Vietnam can be crowded with drivers holding signs. A named representative waiting for you — with your name on the sign and their WhatsApp number in your confirmation — avoids searching.
- Have your hotel address saved in Vietnamese and English.
How a personal assistant helps families and seniors
With a VIP arrival or meet & greet service, a representative:
- Meets you at the agreed point with your name sign.
- Guides you through immigration, using priority lanes where the airport provides them.
- Helps with baggage from the belt to the car.
- Stays with your group until you are in your vehicle — useful when one adult has to manage children, bags and documents at once.
One request covers up to 20 passengers. For bigger family groups, message us on WhatsApp (+84978103306) for a group quote.
